Maritime Enforcement Specialist Rating Video

Just a couple more weeks till I go in for my basic training. It is starting to seem unreal. Here is a video of the rating that I am thinking I will go for.

This is the kind of stuff that I hope I'll be doing soon.

Sunny, sunny California

Hallo Everybody!

This past week was really great!  Skye and I got up off our butts and did real things most of the days!  Woohoo!

Yesterday was super hot (and at the end of September?  What's with this?) so Skyelr and I at the spur of the moment hopped in the car with our snorkeling gear and went swimming (well, I just waded.) in the river.  It was so cold!  But the day was so hot it ended up feeling great.  Skyelr used his mask to search for gold nuggets in the river, but instead found some less-valuable treasures of fishing hooks, lures, and sinkers.

The day before that, on Monday, we spent our afternoon once again in the hot sun working on our "backyard improvement project".  I built a bridge, named "Breakaleg bridge" because Skyelr practically broke his leg working on it, and it has an uneven surface so if you're not careful you'll fall and break your leg.

Other adventures since our last blog post include a visit to Lake Tahoe.  We hiked down to the lakeside to see an old Viking-style mansion and we visited a river full of spawning salmon.

Well, TTFN!

Muzzleloader Pics

Here are some images from our experiment with the muzzleloader rifle the other day.

Jess fired the first shot.

We wanted to see whether a phone book would stop a bullet.
It didn't.

This is the entry wound...

and this is the exit wound.

Verdict: If someone was shooting at us we would sure hope there was more than a phone book between us and them.

Sept 21, 2010

Hello!

It's been a little over a week since our last post, and here's what's been happening to us:

1.  We visited a gold mine and found an overlooked vein of gold, which we will be mining very soon and become very rich.  Just kidding.  But we did visit a very cool gold mine.

2.  We learned how to shoot a muzzle-loaded black powder rifle, tried to post a video of it 'cause we were so excited, and it didn't work so you'll have to check it out on facebook.

3.  Skyelr has a HUGE case of poison oak and if anyone has any home remedies for the itching he's willing to try anything.  Pretty much.

Well, that's that!

Why We Started This Blog.

People kept telling us that we should do a blog, so we did.  We thought this would be an easy way for people to keep up on what we're doing.
Some people take pride in saying a lot about nothing, like I'm doing right now.  Others don't do nothing but just sit there, day in and day out.  I wish I may be shot if I don't do more than just sit there.  And the next time I write on this blog, I'll have something to say worth saying.
