Hey all!
It's the middle of December and I'm getting ready for Christmas! I am at my parents house for the next couple of weeks, celebrating the season with my folks.
Skyelr is still in basic training, and he sounds okay. He's alive, and I don't have a whole ton more info on him than that. Soon we'll find out where we will be stationed.
A few weeks ago I took a trip with a friend from high school to San Francisco--here's some pics!

Boot Camp for Skyelr!
Howdy Y'all!
So, Skyelr is in Coast Guard boot camp, and he's been there for two weeks. Want some info? Here you go!
1. His address is:
SR Baird, Skyelr
H-184 Healy Hall
USCG TRACEN Cape May
1 Munro Ave
Cape may, NJ 08204
2. He can't get packages, just letters.
3. He graduates Jan 7, 2011.
So if you'd like to write, he'd love that I'm sure. Me, I'm doing fine. Keeping busy and not going crazy and all that. Not spending a whole lot of time bloggin, as you can see, but here's one more little update of our adventures.

Remember remember the...4th...of November...
Aha! I am sitting at the table with my trusty laptop waiting for water to boil for my breakfast and there it goes!!!
Breakfast update: Hard-boiling eggs is not going so well. I cracked the egg putting it in the pot and now I have boiled eggwhite froth soup. Breakfast menu today: one normal hard-boiled egg and one monster/alien egg. I'll post pics.

In other news, Skye and I are getting ready to ship him out to basic training in Cape May, New Jersey, and no, I still have no idea where on the map it is. Somewhere cold on the other side of the country. And yes, Skyelr will be gone for Thanksgiving and Christmas and no, he won't be able to come home for the holidays. But honestly, we're so grateful he'll have a job we don't mind celebrating Christmas when he gets back in January. Then we'll be off to somewhere, we don't know where yet. Somewhere on the coast. Hopefully somewhere warm on the coast.
That's that! I'm going to have my muddled up breakfast now! Here's to learning slowly and painfully how to cook!

Maritime Enforcement Specialist Rating Video
Just a couple more weeks till I go in for my basic training. It is starting to seem unreal. Here is a video of the rating that I am thinking I will go for.

This is the kind of stuff that I hope I'll be doing soon.

Sunny, sunny California
Hallo Everybody!
This past week was really great! Skye and I got up off our butts and did real things most of the days! Woohoo!
This past week was really great! Skye and I got up off our butts and did real things most of the days! Woohoo!
Yesterday was super hot (and at the end of September? What's with this?) so Skyelr and I at the spur of the moment hopped in the car with our snorkeling gear and went swimming (well, I just waded.) in the river. It was so cold! But the day was so hot it ended up feeling great. Skyelr used his mask to search for gold nuggets in the river, but instead found some less-valuable treasures of fishing hooks, lures, and sinkers.
The day before that, on Monday, we spent our afternoon once again in the hot sun working on our "backyard improvement project". I built a bridge, named "Breakaleg bridge" because Skyelr practically broke his leg working on it, and it has an uneven surface so if you're not careful you'll fall and break your leg.
Me on Breakaleg Bridge
Other adventures since our last blog post include a visit to Lake Tahoe. We hiked down to the lakeside to see an old Viking-style mansion and we visited a river full of spawning salmon.
Well, TTFN!
